XIX Festival of music in Canarias (from 7 January to 13 February)

There are concerts at "El Teatro Guimerá" of Santa Cruz of Teneriffe. The most part of famous singers have been there, like the directors Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Carlo Marí Giulini, Daniel Barenboim, Sir Colin Davis. There are, as well, many soloists that have attended this Festival like Alfredo Kraus, Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, Mstislav Rostropovich, Krystian Ximerman, Ivo Pogorelich, and Maria Joâo Pires.

Carnival of Teneriffe

The most significant element of the culture of Teneriffe is the Carnival. This is the most popular festivity; it is also the most cosmopolitan one. It is funny and the most keenly anticipated event of the year. This festivity is known all around the world, where an fine display of good taste, where it can be breathed a spirit that cannot be described with words.

Rugs of Orotava. The eighth of Corupus Christi (June).

This town venerates God through the creation of rugs that have flowers and other natural elements that are created in the streets where the procession goes. Families and businesses design the rugs, that are stuffed with petals. The most spectacular rug is the one that is done at the Town Hall Square. This rug contains different shades of volcanic sand that is obtained from the gully of El Teide.
