The chain of Expo Hotels & Resorts was founded in 1976, following the construction of its first hotel, Hotel Expo Barcelona. One of the largest 4 star hotels in the city, it boasts 435 rooms, a restaurant, 9 meeting rooms, 3 private dining rooms, an outside swimming pool, and is superbly located in one of the most important business centres in Barcelona.
Modelled on the Expo Hotel Barcelona, Expo Hotels & Resorts went on to construct its second hotel, Hotel Expo Valencia, a 3 star hotel with 385 rooms, 9 meeting rooms, a restaurant and outside swimming pool. This hotel also has a prime location, situated next to the New Centre, one of the best known, commercial and business centres in the Valencian capital.
The group´s third project, the Mare Nostrum Resort was born as a result of the work and ideas of Antonio Mestre, a visionary, who following a trip to Las Vegas decided to recreate the splendour of this American city, in the south of Tenerife. Antonio Mestre was one of the first people on the island to build luxury hotels and the only private auditorium in the whole of Europe that has a capacity for 1,876 people.
In 1988 the Hotel Mediterranean Palace was built in Playa de las Américas, Arona (renovated in 2000). A spectacular hotel with 535 rooms set around a 1,300m2 swimming pool. In the same year and resort, the Hotel Sir Anthony opened its doors, providing 72 beach front rooms with swimming pool and garden (renovated in 2000).
Between 1996 and 1997, three more hotels were constructed; Cleopatra Palace, Julio César Palace and Marco Antonio Palace, each one providing almost 200 rooms, located around an original Roman pool. 1996 also saw the inauguration of the Pirámide de Arona, a spectacular building which houses one of the largest auditoriums in Europe; with a total build of 350m2, it has a capacity for 1,874 people and boasts all the latest audiovisual media equipment.

Towards the end of October 2003, the group acquired the acclaimed Hotel Princess Sofia in the city of Barcelona. With 500 bedrooms, 28 individual conference/seminar rooms (over a total area of 3,900m2) as well as a Wellness Centre, the Hotel Princess Sofia is the perfect venue for holding conferences, conventions and meetings. Indeed the hotel has become the benchmark for other hotels in the city wishing to corner the business and conference market.

In October 2004 Expo Hotels & Resort built a new 4 star hotel in Barcelona, the Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya. Situated only a stone´s throw away from Diagonal, (the most important business centre in the city) located next to the Fira de Barcelona (Trade Centre), only 50 metres from Sants train station (the future AVE Station providing a Barcelona to Madrid service), 15 minutes from Barcelona´s airport El Prat, and a short distance from the many tourist attractions of Barcelona, it also has excellent transport connections to the city. The hotel, built over 23 floors, has 272 rooms (259 rooms and 13 suites), as well as a spa, gymnasium, panoramic restaurant on the 23rd floor ("Visual Restaurant"), 7 meeting/seminar rooms and an auditorium with a capacity for 100 people.

In June 2006 the group acquired the exclusive Hotel Don Carlos Beach & Golf Resort. This is now the group´s tenth hotel in the Peninsula and the first one located on the Costa del Sol. The Hotel Don Carlos Beach & Resort has 251 rooms (241 rooms and 10 luxury suites) and 24 exclusive beach suites located in private grounds adjacent to the hotel. In addition, the hotel boasts one of the internationally renowned Nikki Beach Clubs (there are a total of 8 around the globe) and the Marcos Tennis Academy, with 11 tennis courts, situated within the 40,000m2 of tropical gardens. Situated in close proximity to some of the best golf courses on the Costa del Golf (Santa Maria Golf & Country Club, Rio Real Golf Club and Marbella Golf Club), the Hotel Don Carlos Beach & Golf Resort is the perfect place for avid golf lovers. The hotel also provides extensive facilities for conferences and events with more than 2,000m2 divided into 12 conference/seminar rooms.
